This DRAFT ‘Kingsford Street Reserve Masterplan’ has been developed following feedback from previous community consultation and subsequent research into a range of possible ideas for the reserve, including a children’s playground, off leash dog park, RV stop and community garden.
Following a detailed review of all ideas raised and particularly the demographic of the surrounding area, it is considered that the best use of the Kingsford Street Reserve in the future is as a ‘Senior Park’.
A ‘Senior Park’ is an inclusive and accessible outdoor environment that encourages older adults within the community to engage in physical exercise and social interaction to promote healthy aging.
What does the masterplan do?
The DRAFT ‘Kingsford Street Reserve Masterplan’ provides a concept plan as well as an opportunistic step by step approach to making the concept a reality.
Masterplans are used to ensure places are strategically planned with input from the community and provide a clear direction for the future development of the place, which is helpful in obtaining funding.
It is important to note that Masterplans are not detailed designs and the opportunistic steps identified are not currently planned or budgeted works and are therefore not tied to any set delivery timeframe.
