Choirboys - Great Australian Rock N Roll Stories

Part concert, part story, Run to Paradise combines untold stories behind 70’s & 80’s Australian Rock N Roll.

Back in 1978, a group of twenty-something mates from Sydney’s Northern Beaches formed a band called Choirboys.

Surrounded by the wild, hedonistic chaos of the '70s youth culture, they soaked it all in—every misstep, every party, every outrageous moment. That life would ultimately give birth to their defining anthem: Run to Paradise. Fuelled by the stories that have long echoed through the halls of rock history—Run to Paradise became more than a hit; it became the opening line in a book of untold stories.

Now, 35 years later, the band is ready to open that book and spill everything. Part concert, part story, Run to Paradise is a raw, hilarious, and jaw-dropping journey through the golden era of Australian pub rock. Told in their own words, the Choirboys share the stories you were never meant to hear—wild nights, backstage madness, and the kind of insanity only a rock band could survive... all, as these Oz pub-rock icons recall it.

“They didn’t call it Pub Rock back then,” says frontman Mark Gable, “but we were there at the start—and somehow, we’re still here. It’s hearsay, it’s memory, it’s what we lived, what we were told. And a lot of it is just plain stupid… but that was the magic. There were no rules.” Which movie star did the Divinyls’ bass player meet under a table at a club?

What was Chuck Berry’s strange backstage habit? Did Deep Purple really leave Mark with a limp? And what exactly happened to Iggy Pop’s pants? Set to a soundtrack of the era’s most legendary tracks—from AC/DC, The Angels, Dragon, Screaming Jets, Deep Purple, Divinyls, and more—plus all the Choirboys’ hits including Boys Will Be Boys, Never Gonna Die, Struggletown, and of course, Run to Paradise. This is Run to Paradise—where the stories are wild, the music is loud, and the truth is somewhere in between.

Katie Noonan: Jeff Buckley's Grace Tour

Frontier Touring is delighted to announce five-time ARIA award-winning artist Katie Noonan will embark on a 20-date headline tour across Australia, performing the works of Jeff Buckley’s iconic album Grace.

“Her voice really is a thing of wonder.” - The Australian

Celebrating one of music’s most notable albums, Katie will take her mind-blowing live show across metro and regional areas of the country.

With over 20 years in the industry, Katie Noonan has proved herself as one of Australia’s most hardworking, versatile and prolific artists. Named one of the greatest Australian singers of all time by the Herald Sun, Katie has produced 29 albums throughout her career, with seven times platinum record sales under her belt and 29 ARIA award nominations that span diverse genres. In 2023 Katie was awarded ‘Best Live Voice QLD’ in the National Live Music Awards.

Katie first introduced her unique adaptation of Jeff Buckley’s Grace live, recently performing an incredible five sold-out nights at Sydney Festival. Praise from fans and critics came pouring in for the singer-songwriter's ability to maintain the qualities of the traditional tracks while adding her unique flair and tone to curate a memorable tribute to a special body of work.

“From the spacious falsetto vocalise of the opening of Mojo Pin over a gently rocking guitar, breaking out into the wild and edgy middle section, it was clear that this 70-minute show on the stage of the Wharf Theatre was going to be electrifying.” - Daily Telegraph

“Like Buckley, she’s a phenomenally acrobatic vocalist, but it never feels like the point is to show off – rather, the vocal gymnastics are a conduit for what is essentially an hour of unadulterated feeling” - Theatre Travels

Speaking on the significance of Jeff Buckley’s Grace, Katie says: “In 1994, Jeff Buckley’s seminal debut album Grace was released into the world. I was 17 and never had I heard a sound world like this, never had I heard a band that unique and never had I heard a voice that expressive, exploratory and exciting.

This album is the single biggest influence on my musical journey and was an enormous inspiration for my debut album Polyserena and my 29 subsequent studio albums.

I was lucky enough to see Jeff live in 1996 and it was honestly a transcendental experience and one of the greatest concerts I will ever see.

His integrity, unique sound and achingly honest lyrics have inspired me so deeply, and in the 30th anniversary of the Grace album, I am honoured to present this body of work  with some of my favourite musicians and pay homage to a life changing album and a truly once in a lifetime artist.”

Joining Katie as special guest is Melbourne-based artist Georgia Fields. Georgia conjures a mesmerising spell of art-pop alchemy. Her imitable song craft combines the astral with the ordinary, drawing on influences as far reaching as Greek mythology and the succulent anatomy of citrus fruits. Performing solo at the piano with her loop pedal, Georgia "paints entire worlds with her tunes" (Frankie Magazine).

With an unmatched vocal range and incredible musicality don’t miss these special shows as Katie Noonan takes her reimagined arrangements of Jeff Buckley’s Grace across Australia for the first time this September-November, with special guests Jack Carty and Georgia Fields.
