Latrobe City Council is encouraging members of the community to have their say on the draft 2026/27 Budget, on public exhibition from Tuesday 28 April to Monday 25 May 2026.
Latrobe City Council’s 2026/27 draft Budget supports the strategic directions of the Council Plan and Community Vision 2025-2029, with $3.8 million allocated to road maintenance, $7.8 million to presentation of public spaces and $1.5 million to the community grants program.
The draft Budget has been prepared as a balanced cash budget, continuing to place Council in a strong financial position.
Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson said the draft Budget will help to deliver some major projects and services the community has been waiting for.
“During the pre-budget community consultation last year, we asked people to tell us any specific projects, priorities or ideas they would like considered as part of the budget process. We received 50 submissions and used this input to shape the 2026/27 draft Budget,” the Mayor said.
“Some of the key capital works projects highlighted in the draft Budget include the multi-use pavilion at Gaskin Park, Churchill, community facility upgrades and playground renewals, preschool renewals at Boolarra and Glengarry, public hall renewal works at Newborough and Churchill, and Joe Carmody Athletics Track resurfacing.
“I’m really pleased to see these local projects included in the draft Budget which will benefit a range of communities across Latrobe City.
“You can now view the draft Budget on our Your Say platform. Any feedback we receive from the community will be carefully considered,” the Mayor added.
The Budget includes a total capital works program of $88.5 million comprising of $39.6 million from the 2026/27 year program and $48.9 million of continuing multiyear projects.
This Budget also includes the introduction of a new Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) kerbside collection service.
