Latrobe City Council is pleased to advise that Stage 1 of the Glengarry Flood Mitigation - Design and Construction project is underway. This first stage is focused on Brooks Lane and will cut-off the eastern flood flow path from reaching the township.
These crucial works mark a significant step towards enhancing flood protection for the Glengarry community. The design works for Stage 1 are currently in progress, with construction expected to be completed by mid-2025.
This project has been made possible through co-funding from the Australian Government's Disaster Ready Fund, showcasing a strong partnership between local and federal efforts to protect our communities from natural disasters.
While Stage 1 is in progress, Latrobe City Council continues to actively investigate further mitigation measures to ensure comprehensive flood protection for Glengarry. Although subsequent stages of the project (Stages 2 and 3) are not yet confirmed, they remain a priority and will be pursued as additional funding becomes available. A map of the proposed Stage 2 and 3 works is attached for reference.
Latrobe City Council is committed to safeguarding the Glengarry community and will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.
