Child Safety

Council acknowledge that children make up almost a quarter of Latrobe City's population and use a variety of Council services, facilities and spaces.  Children have the same rights to raise concerns and make complaints. Complaints received from children will be treated seriously and in accordance with this Procedure, however Council recognises that adaptions to the complaints handling process may be required to support children, young people and other vulnerable community members to encourage and assist them to raise their concerns easily and safely. Child friendly resources and tools will be made available throughout Council services to support complaints raised by children and young people.

More information about children’s safety and rights can be found on Council’s Child Safety in Latrobe webpage.

Refer your complaint to an external agency

At any time, you may refer your complaint to an external agency, although an external agency may ask you to try to resolve your complaint with Council first.

The Victorian Ombudsman is an independent body established to provide a fair hearing of complaints. Phone the Victorian Ombudsman on 9613 6222 or email ombudvic@ombudsman.vic.gov.au

There are other complaint resolution bodies to refer your complaint to.
