Named after Sir Roland Stuart Andrews, Chair & Managing Director, Gas & Fuel Corp, responsible for the establishment of the Lurgi brown coal gasification plant at Morwell.

Named after Jack Percival Gaskin, Chairman & Director of Housing, Housing Commission of Vic., 1966 to 1974. 

Named after George William Bates, the former Chief General Managers of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria.  He was given the sensitive task of removing the township of Yallourn and its 5000 people – orchestrating the resettlement of a 1000 houses as well as community facilities.  He devised a resettlement project with accompanying compensation to areas of people’s choice.

The success of this project was measured by the very high percentage of satisfied people, due in large part to the compassion and dignity shown by George.

George was a key footballer and lifelong supporter of the Yallourn Football Club and later the Yallourn/ Yallourn North Football club.  

In 1951, George played his first senior game with the Yallourn Football Club and established himself as the clubs full forward.

After his retirement, George took an active interest in the club. In later years, his two son, Stephen and Neil continued the tradition playing for the same club as their father.

Named after Bert Christensen, as Tyers citizen. Donated land for Fish Hatchery on Tyers River, 1919. Farm “Meadowbank” a JP. Returned Soldier WWI. Upon return from WWI he turned to Dairy Farming. He had an excellent herd of Jersey cows.

Community life was important to Bert. He assisted in raising the funds to replace the floor in the local hall (1908); was involved in the establishment of a number of the sporting clubs at Tyers eg Tennis (even built a court on his property which was lit when electricity came to the area) and golf. He was elected the first President of the Tyers Progress Association (1946). Bert was also caretaker at the Tyers Fish farm. His other business activity was operating the Tyers Lime Kiln for several years. 

Named after the Baillie family who have been farmers in the Tyers District from early days. Various members of the family have been involved in community affairs. For example; they petitioned the Board of Advice (Education) for the establishment of a full-time school in Tyers (1908); they were early adopters of electricity to operate their dairies (1920’s). The family were was heavily involved with the Butter factory Management at Tyers, Captained and are life members of the Tyers Fire Brigade and were sportsmen & women within town (Badminton and football).

Named after Martin Walker who was very active in community affairs. He served for the Yinnar Riding on the Morwell Shire Council for 53 years, during which he was appointed President on four separate occasions. He was also a member of the Morwell District Community Hospital Committee, the Latrobe Valley Ambulance Committee and the Fire Brigade. His interests included the foundation of the Herd Test Association in Victoria in 1921, the State School Calf Clubs and activities with the Scout movement. Photography was a lifetime hobby which began at the Friends School at Hobart.
