Latrobe City Council’s Volunteer Expo is back and bigger than ever!
The event will bring together 45+ local organisations and community groups to connect with community members and show them how they can get involved.
Taking place during National Volunteer Week, the Expo also celebrates those who give their time and efforts to help others in the community. This year’s theme is ‘Your Year to Volunteer’ which honours the contributions of volunteers and invites people across Australia to make 2026 a year of meaningful involvement, in ways that work for them.
Attendees will be treated to performances by Gippsland Children’s Choir and Traralgon College, as well as other stallholder activities throughout the morning. St John Ambulance Victoria's CPR Lab will be conducting free 10-minute interactive CPR training sessions.
Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson is encouraging everyone in the community to attend the event and be astounded at how many varied groups/organisations are on display showcasing the many positive benefits of volunteering.
“Volunteers are the heart and soul of our Latrobe City community,” the Mayor said.
“That’s why this is one of my favourite events on the calendar. We get to highlight the important work of our local community groups and, at the same time, link them with potential new volunteers.”
“So, come along, and have a look at our local groups and you may just find a volunteer opportunity that taps into your passions and interests, or makes use of your valuable knowledge and skills.
“Volunteering is such a brilliant way to be involved with the community – you get to do something you enjoy, learn new skills, make friends and help those around you. Whether you lend a hand to the local footy club or your child’s school, our community is stronger for it.”
Some organisations and community groups who will be there on the day include Mountain Track Youth, Interchange Gippsland, Foodbank Victoria, Gippsland FM, Lions Club, Country Fire Authority and Moe Historical Society.
