A new multi-level car park has opened in Traralgon, delivering a significant increase in parking capacity in the central business district.
The five-level Kay Street facility provides 596 parking spaces on site - an increase of around 442 spaces - and is expected to improve access to key destinations including the Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre, Gippsland Performing Arts Centre and the surrounding retail precinct.
Latrobe City Council Mayor, Cr Sharon Gibson, said that “it was only through partnership with the Victorian Government with the Regional Car Parks Fund and Council in control of the planning and delivery that this project has been brought to life”.
The car park includes accessible parking bays suitable for rear access vehicles, upgraded pedestrian connections and parking guidance technology to assist drivers in locating available spaces.
The project was designed by Katz Architecture and constructed by BFN Construction, with support from Gippsland-based subcontractors and suppliers.
The new facility forms part of ongoing work to support access and movement within Latrobe City’s activity centres.
