Latrobe City Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from passionate and experienced community members to join the newly established Visitor Economy Advisory Committee (VEAC).
The VEAC will provide strategic advice to Council to support the continued growth and development of Latrobe City’s visitor economy, while strengthening collaboration and engagement across the local tourism and events industry. The VEAC will play an important role in supporting the delivery of the Latrobe City Events and Visitor Economy Strategy 2024–2028.
Council is seeking representatives with an interest or experience in tourism, events, hospitality, business or community development who are committed to helping shape the future of the region.
Successful applicants will be appointed for a three-year term and will have the opportunity to contribute to initiatives that enhance Latrobe City’s appeal as a destination for visitors, events and investment.
Mayor of Latrobe City Council Councillor Sharon Gibson said the VEAC would play an important role in guiding the future direction of the sector.
“The visitor economy is an important contributor to our City’s economy and community vibrancy,” the Mayor said.
“The VEAC committee will help ensure industry knowledge, local insights and community perspectives are reflected in future planning and development.
“Latrobe City is home to passionate community members who are rich with knowledge, experience and insights, and can make a valuable contribution to the Visitor Economy Advisory Committee.”
