Children’s Expo returns for free family fun!

Media Release

Latrobe City Council is inviting families to come along and enjoy an afternoon of free family fun at this year's Children’s Expo, a community event celebrating children, families and the services that support them.

The theme for National Children’s Week 2026 is "Children have the right to use their own language, celebrate their culture and practise their religion”.

The expo will be held on Tuesday 27 October from 1pm to 6pm at Kernot Hall in Morwell.

Latrobe City Mayor Councillor Sharon Gibson said the event brings together local early years' providers, health services, community organisations and family support services, giving families the chance to connect with local services while their children enjoy a fun day out.

“The Children's Expo is one of our most popular events," Cr Gibson said.

"There'll be plenty of activities and entertainment for the kids to participate in, and parents and carers can find out more about local services and supports available to families in our community”.

The free activities on offer include:

  • jumping castles
  • a petting zoo
  • native Australian animals
  • magician shows
  • ride-on animals at the Traffic School
  • face painting

A variety of food vendors will also be on site throughout the afternoon, including Big Bears Donuts, Slinky Spuds, Sampsons as well as coffee and milkshake vendors.

No bookings are required.
