A new adventure playground is coming to Mathison Park, creating more opportunities for local families to get outdoors, be active and enjoy time together.

Works beginning in November 2026 include:

• Removal of approved vegetation, fitness equipment, signage and park furniture
• Construction of a new adventure playground
• New shelters, BBQ facilities, pathways and landscaping improvements

Temporary closures

• Concrete car park
• Main BBQ shelter
• Some surrounding green spaces

Remaining open

• Existing playground
• Public toilets
• Gravel car park
• Walking paths

This project is supported by the Victorian Government through the Better Parks and Playgrounds Program.

Construction of the new adventure playground is expected to commence in November 2026 and continue through to March 2027.

The Victorian Government is contributing $1 million towards the project, with Latrobe City Council providing an additional $150,000.

Thank you for your patience while we improve Mathison Park.
