The Moe Rail Precinct Revitalisation Project – Stage 1 has now been completed. The new Frank Bartlett Memorial Library and Moe Service Centre opened on 28 June 2016. 4,884 visitors welcomed to the new facility over opening week.
The Library and Service Centre now includes:
- Public Library
- Council service centre
- Community meeting & Research rooms
- Consulting suites
- Games room
- Newspaper room
- Study/ Young Adults rooms
- Public toilets
- Café
- Public plaza and Green roof
An official opening of the project was held on 19 September 2016. Federal and State Government representatives, and key community group members and stakeholders attended the event to formally open the new building to the public. Federal Minister for Regional Development Senator the Hon Fiona Nash, Leader for Nationals the Hon Peter Walsh, Federal Member for McMillan Russell Broadbent, Members for Eastern Victoria Ms. Harriet Shing MP and Ms. Melina Bath MLC, and Latrobe City Mayor & Councillors attended the event to help celebrate the exciting achievement of delivering this facility on behalf of the community.
A public community celebration event for all community members was held on 20 November 2016, to acknowledge the efforts of everyone involved who helped deliver Stage 1 of the project.
We encourage you to visit the new building and see what it has to offer. All services including the public meeting rooms, community kitchen and library resources are now available for use.
Future stages
Future stages include the development of a public park, streetscape improvements, reconstruction of George Street into a bus interchange, construction of landscaped and open green spaces, a youth precinct, and a shared pedestrian zone in Moore Street. Subsequent stages of the project are contingent on availability of funding.

After-hours access to meeting rooms is available by prior booking.
Saturday 9am – 12pm
Sunday 10am – 2pm
