Latrobe City Council is committed to the responsible handling of all personal information in accordance with privacy legislation.
As part of a 12 month trial, six of Latrobe City Council’s signed vehicles have been fitted with dashcam and GPS tracking. This is in operation when the vehicle ignition is in the ‘on’ position. Impacted vehicles can be identified by signage displayed in the vehicle window/s.
Your personal information, in the form of video footage captured by dashcam, may be collected in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 for the purpose of:
- providing additional safety features for drivers, particularly when working alone/isolated
- reviewing/responding to incidents/accidents/complaints
- better understanding and optimise the utilisation of council vehicles, and
- potentially assisting in scheduling works orders.
This system and information is managed in line with Council’s Electronic Surveillance Policy. That includes restrictions and requirements around use, access, and disclosure (ie sharing) of information.
Latrobe City Council will not disclose your information to any third parties, other than where disclosure is required or permitted under law.
