eMagazines are moving to Libby

RBdigital has moved across to the Libby app by OverDrive. eMagazines previously available through RBdigital can now be accessed from the Libby reading app.

It's the same great content, just a new app to enjoy them! You can find out more at

You can download the Libby app from the App store (Apple IOS devices) or from the Play Store (Android devices).

Once you have downloaded the app, open Libby and start the process of creating a Libby Latrobe City Libraries Account. Select Latrobe City Libraries from the list of libraries, and add in your library card number. Follow the prompts to finalise the setup your Libby account.

We have hundreds of magazines from Australia and around the world. Read your favourite magazines on your home computer, iPad, smartphone, tablet or other devices. The magazines are in full digital colour. Check out as many issues as you want. You can stream them to read the magazines online or download them to read offline at your convenience.

1. Why is the library moving RBdigital content across to OverDrive/Libby app?

OverDrive, a leading digital reading platform for libraries worldwide, and creator of the Libby app, has recently acquired RBdigital in Australia. OverDrive is now consolidating their collections into one platform and will begin to retire the RBdigital app in 2021.

All magazines previously available through RBdigital will now be available through the Libby app.

2. What happens to the current RBdigital magazines I have checked out?

Magazines already checked out and downloaded on the RBdigital app will still be available through the RBdigital app for a short period after the transition. You will need to check out any magazines you wish to read again or new magazines in the Libby app once RBdigital closes.

3. How long is the loan period?

All the magazines will be available after transition, but they will be on loan for three weeks. However, if you want to keep them longer, you can renew them as many times as you like.

You can also borrow as many magazines as you like

4. Will I be able to auto-borrow magazines on Libby?

Auto loans of magazines is not available yet on Libby, but we hope it will be made available in future. Visit Libby regularly so you know when your favourite magazine’s new issue is available.

Read The Age Library Edition free with your membership. Here's how you get reading:

  1. Click the link and log in in with your library card and password/pin number.
  2. Scroll down to The Age and click the link.
  3. Choose the year at top, month at left and issue in the centre of screen.
  4. You can also use the search box at the top.
  5. To read an issue, simply tap it.

Print magazines

For all you traditionalists, the library continues to subscribe to over one hundred print  magazine titles which you can borrow by visiting your local library.
