Lost Animals

If you have lost your animal, search our impounded animals register below.

All animals collected by our officers, or delivered to the pound are on this register, as we continually update the website throughout the day.

Adopt a pound animal

The lost animals below may be available for adoption eight days after the impounded date.

Register your interest to adopt an animal or call us on 1300 367 700. Due to the volume of adoption requests received, you will only be contacted if your application is successful.

Payment

Payment and paperwork for the release of your animal must be completed at one of our service centres or libraries before you attend the Pound.  The total fee for release will be noted in the information on your animal’s ID below.

Please note that the fees paid for your release are only release fees for your animal, not an infringement.  After release, you should be aware that there may be infringements issued relating to breaches against the Domestic Animal Act, for example, failure to register and dog at large.

Releasing your animal

To apply for the release of your animal:

  1. Complete the Application for pound release
  2. Visit any service centre or library
  3. Show your identification and the completed form to a customer service officer
  4. Pay the fee to release your animal
All animals released from the pound must be registered, desexed (unless exempt, see Compulsory Desexing) and microchipped.
    If your animal is:
    • not registered, you must pay a registration fee with the release fee
    • not microchipped, you may not be able to collect your animal from the pound immediately after payment is made.
    • not desexed, you must purchase a desexing voucher with the release fee.

Microchipping and desexing will be arranged with Council’s contracted veterinarian after release fees have been paid in full and you will be notified when your animal is ready for collection.

After release, you should be aware that there may be infringements issued relating to breaches against the Domestic Animal Act, for example, failure to register your cat or dog and dog at large.
