More hours of 4-Year-Old Kinder in Latrobe

The Victorian Government is progressively introducing more hours of 4-year-old-kinder across Victoria between 2025 to 2036.
As the roll-out continues, eligible children enrolled in a funded kindergarten program will be able to access additional funded kindergarten hours.

Is my child eligible for More hours of 4-Year-Old Kinder?

Children and families may be eligible for more funded hours based on their circumstances.
Priority is currently given to:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
  • Children from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds
  • Children who have had contact with Child Protection services
  • Children supported through Early Start Kindergarten or Access to Early Learning programs

Additional priority groups will be introduced as the Victorian Government’s roll-out of more hours of 4-Year-Old Kinder continues.

What if my child is not in a priority group?

If your family is not currently part of one of the priority groups, your child can still access 15 funded hours of 4-Year-Old Kinder each week through the Victorian Government’s funded kindergarten program.
As more hours are introduced across Victoria, eligible children will gradually have access to increased funded kindergarten hours.

Is my child eligible?

To be eligible for four-year-old kinder, children must be four years of age before 30 April in year of attendance. Four-year-old kinder sessions are 15 hours per week.

How to enrol

Before you start you will need:

  • To read the Kinder Enrolment Guide below;

  • access to your email (we suggest using a personal email address some organisations may have a block preventing you from receiving the kindergarten offer via your work email address)
  • a copy of your child’s immunisation history statement, maternal and child health records cannot be accepted. This document can be downloaded from the MyGov website, see examples below. Children must be up to date with immunisations at time of enrolment.
  • If you hold a Health Care card, Pensioner Concession Card or Department Veterans Affairs Gold card you will need to provide the card number and the expiry date.

How to Enrol

IMPORTANT - Children are eligible for one year of funded four-year-old kindergarten and will commence primary school the following year. Children who withdraw from a kindergarten program once they commence are not eligible for an additional year of funded kindergarten anywhere in Victoria. Therefore, it is important that families consider whether their child is ready for four year old funded kindergarten, prior to their child commencing in the program.
