4 Year Old Kindergarten

Latrobe City’s Central Kindergarten Registration Scheme is an initiative to ensure the whole community has access to a fair, equitable and timely system for processing kindergarten enrolments. The centralised system replaces individual applications and endeavors to secure a place at the preferred centre.

Applications for children to attend kindergarten are accepted from the January to 30 June the year prior for a child attending 4 year old kindergarten for on time enrolments. Applications will still be accepted after this time.

If your child will be four years old by 30 April in the year that they will attend 4 year old kindergarten you can submit an Application for Registration through Latrobe City Councils Central Registration Scheme.

First round offers for four-year-old kindergarten places are sent out in July for the following year. Applicants are encouraged to respond to their offer as detailed in the letter. Second round offers are sent in August, with any subsequent offers made as vacancies become available.

Please call Family Services on 51285645 or email fsadmin@latrobe.vic.gov.au if you have any questions.

Latrobe City Council only accepts applications for Kindergartens that are members of the Central Registration Scheme, these services are listed in Latrobe City Kindergarten Locations.

Priority of access

We support the Department of Education and Training (DET) policy direction that prioritises the inclusion of children with additional needs, children of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, asylum seeker and refugee families with an appropriate visa and children known to Child Protection. Families that demonstrate that they have a child in one of these categories will be allocated to a kindergarten program as a high priority

No Jab No Play

An Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register is the only documentation accepted by early childhood education and care services for the purposes of confirming a child’s enrolment in their service.

Documents produced by GPs or other immunisation providers cannot be acceptable as proof of immunisation.

From November, all parents will need to provide Immunisation History Statements to early childhood services at regular intervals – not only on enrolment. This will provide additional prompts to ensure their child’s immunisation is up-to-date for their age.
