Hazelwood Pondage

Popular activities include sailing, power boats and waterskiing, yachting, canoeing and swimming. Located on Yinnar Road, Yinnar, 5 minutes out of Churchill.

Hazelwood Pondage is host to the Latrobe City Sauna Sail.  The Sauna Sail, a sailing regatta held annually in June attracts about 160 sail boats from across Victoria as well as interstate.

Hazelwood Pondage is the home of the Latrobe Valley Yacht Club.  With an annual program of events, almost every Sunday, November through to May and every second thereafter, you will see sail boats out on the lake.  A perfect setting for a family picnic or BBQ.

Restrictions

As of 1 June 2018, Hazelwood Pondage Waterway is closed to all recreational vessels until further notice.

For community safety, ENGIE has made the decision to close the waterway based on current structural concerns with the dam wall.

Fishing

Hazelwood Pondage is open for recreational fishing subject to certain Fishing Victoria regulations and conditions. Please refer to the Fisheries website (www.vic.gov.au/barra) for more information or contact Fisheries Victoria directly on 136 186

Facilities

Barbeque, picnic tables, playground and toilets are located on the foreshore of Hazelwood Pondage.

Fees

There are no fees associated with boat access to Hazelwood Pondage.

Camping

Non-powered sites are available at Hazelwood Pondage Caravan Park. 
Facilities include toilet and shower amenities, barbecue and laundry.

  • Weekly unpowered site $147

Lake Narracan

Lake Narracan is a popular water activities destination.  A surface area spanning nearly 300ha makes it ideal for power boating, waterskiing, jet skiing, sail boarding and sailing.  It is also a great place for swimming, family picnics and walking.

There are two boat ramps at Lake Narracan, access is via John Field Drive, Newborough.

Other facilities

Toilets and picnic tables are available for use at Lake Narracan.
