Health, Beauty and Wellbeing Businesses

We inspect facilities to ensure that they operate in accordance with the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009 and best practice guidelines that have been produced by the Department of Health.

All new hairdressing, beauty therapy, skin penetration, tattooing, ear piercing and colonic irrigation businesses must register with Council before operating. All existing businesses must also be registered each year. We have developed ‘Guidelines for new and transferring health and wellbeing businesses’ to help you understand your legal requirements.

We will investigate all complaints made in relation to these types of businesses. To lodge a complaint, contact us on 1300 367 700.

Under the provisions of the Chinese Medicine Registration Act 2000, acupuncturists must register with the Chinese Medical Registration Board of Victoria. For information concerning acupuncturists, contact 9499 3800.
