“The site at 192-194 Commercial Road, Morwell is privately owned and is located within the Activity Centre Zone under the Planning Scheme. A planning permit is not required for accommodation located above ground floor level under this zoning.

Should any approvals be required for the development of the site, Council will ensure that the appropriate standards are met.

It is noted that, should any redevelopment proceed, the site has the potential to support a range of uses that may contribute to the ongoing revitalisation of Morwell’s central business district.

Latrobe City Council has now entered an Election Period for the Morwell River Ward by-election and as such will not be making any further comment on the matter during this time. The by-election period concludes on 1 August 2026.”
