Latrobe City Council has taken the proactive measure to temporarily close its Leisure Centre at Moe- Newborough after a team member informed management of experiencing flu-like symptoms.
The Latrobe Leisure Centre team member, who recently returned from an overseas holiday in the United Kingdom, has since presented at a local medical centre and is currently undergoing testing for COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
To reassure the community and as a precautionary measure, contract cleaners have been engaged to undertake a thorough cleaning of the facility. The facility will remain closed until such time the cleaning activity has been completed and Latrobe City Council is confident staff and patrons can return.
Cleaning of the Churchill and Morwell Leisure Facilities is being undertaken this evening and early tomorrow morning as part of the nightly cleaning regime.
Latrobe City Council assures all Latrobe Leisure facilities are kept safe and well maintained and these precautionary measures have been taken in the best interest of the community and staff wellbeing.
