Last night, Latrobe City Council advised the community of a team member who has been self-isolated awaiting results of testing for COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
As a proactive measure the Leisure Centre at Moe - Newborough has been temporarily closed with contractor cleaners having today undertaken extensive cleaning of the facility.
Following an investigation and further confirmation with the team member, we are able to advise that they worked at the Leisure Centre at Moe- Newborough yesterday, Sunday 15 March whilst experiencing flu-like symptoms.
To provide further clarity and reassurance to the community, we advise that the team member is not a ‘Learn to Swim Instructor’ and was fulfilling general duties whilst on shift.
Should anyone who attended the facility yesterday, Sunday 15 March, begin to experience the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) as per the direction of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) you are to self-isolate and contact your medical practitioner.
Advice on the DHHS website notes that extensive testing has shown that people who have passed through places where there was a confirmed case, known as casual contacts, have an extremely low risk of transmission.
Latrobe City Council is committed to keeping the community updated on this situation and will advise of further information.
