Coronavirus and Aged and Disability

Latrobe City Council is committed to the safety and maintaining the health of our vulnerable community members.

Please be advised that our Home Care services are running at a reduced capacity due to the current COVID-19 outbreak.

During this time, services will be limited to vulnerable clients only, and will include the follow services only:

  • Meals on Wheels
  • Personal Care
  • Unaccompanied shopping
  • Urgent installation of rails
  • Garden Maintenance
  • Carers Program
  • Respite Care

Please be aware that during this time the following services have been completely cancelled:

  • Planned Activity Groups
  • Home Care

Latrobe City Council will communicate these changes directly with these clients and also through social media for extended family members.

Meals on Wheels

If you are currently experiencing difficulties with meal preparation or need assistance with shopping please follow the below steps:

People aged over 65

(or over 50 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander)

Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or via www.myagedcare.gov.au who will arrange a hot 3 course meal to be delivered to your home through our Meals on Wheels Program or organise a support worker to assist you with shopping.

Younger people aged under 65

(or under 50 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) who are deemed not eligible for service under the National Disability Insurance Scheme NDIS or people that have Chronic disease, under Palliative care or are a Cancer patient

Please refer to the Latrobe City Council website www.latrobe.vic.gov.au  and complete the Home and Community Care Program for Younger People referral request form and one of our staff members will be in contact with you. Alternatively you can call our Intake Assessment team on 1300 367 700.

Aged and Disability services planned activities and domestic assistance services

As of Tuesday 24 March, Latrobe City Council will place Aged and Disability services planned activities and domestic assistance services on hold until further notice.

This decision was a difficult one to make, but it will allow us to focus our attention on our most vulnerable community members.

Personal Care, respite and shopping assistance will continue as normal. Council will continue to review the situation and should circumstances change we will inform our clients and the community.

Latrobe City Council also has a home library service which can be accessed by contacting 1300 360 700.
