There is currently no evidence that COVID-19 is spread through food.
Everyone should practice good personal hygiene when preparing and handling food.
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds. Clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or nose during any food preparation.
We recommend that you pay extra attention to your cleaning and sanitising steps at this time – if you think a surface may be contaminated clean it down with detergent followed by a sanitiser.
The normal washing of dishes in hot water (or - better still, a dishwasher) - using detergent is likely to completely inactivate any coronavirus present, for the dishwasher to be effective at sanitising equipment the rinse cycle must get to 80C – if your dishwasher can’t reach these temperatures then you must include a separate chlorine based food grade sanitiser
