Latrobe Regional Airport - Vital Statistics

Plane at Latrobe Regional AirportThe Latrobe Regional Airport operates with an unconditional Civil Aviation Safety Authority Licence V007.

At 30 June 2006,  the airport consisted of:-

  • Two all weather runways - 03/21:1430 metres sealed to 23 metres wide and 09/27: gravel, 919 metres and 18 metres wide, and a grass strip 03L/21R 537 metres;
  • Pilot activated lighting (PAL) on 03/21;
  • Radio Navigation Aid, NDB;
  • Sealed Apron;
  • Automatic Weather Information Broadcast (AWIB);
  • AFRU Beep Back;
  • Aviation Fuel, AVGAS and AVTUR;
  • Modern air-conditioned terminal building;
  • Sealed public car-park
  • On-site aircraft construction and maintenance facilities;
  • Emergency facilities including State Emergency Service, Country Fire Brigade, DSE fire bomber base and Helimed helicopter ambulance
  • Charter flights available to anywhere in Australia;
  • Serviced land available with direct access to runways for aviation related business activities.

 

General Aviation Movements

General Aviation comprises of a range of flying activities commonly including charter, flying training, agriculture work, aerial work, community service flying and private or business flying.   Accurate account of these movements through Latrobe Regional Airport (LRA) is not possible as the airport has an open access regime. However, it is estimated that the following categories used the Airport during 2006:-
