About

The Nyernila Storytelling program is an Aboriginal storytime program for preschool children. The program is designed to be inclusive, interactive and include storytelling, songs and story reading which promote the Gunai Kurnai language. Each session includes activities that are culturally based and craft activities that use natural materials.

Come along and meet Jaslyn Morris the program facilitator and her puppet friend, Nala the Owl! In these sessions children will learn and share in traditional stories and Aboriginal culture in a safe and welcoming environment.

A child’s identity, along with family and cultural history, shapes their learning and development. This program contributes to the empowerment of Koorie parents, in their role as their child’s first teacher and supports the view of Aboriginal culture as an asset in our community.
