You can join in the fun of the National Simultaneous Storytime at 11am online through Storybox library. Follow the link, then choose Latrobe City Library and login with your library membership card number. Once you are logged in, look for Hickery Dickery Dash read by Jay Laga'aia.

Hickery Dickery Dash will also be read at all storytimes at Latrobe City Libraries during the week

Simultaneous Libraries will be

  • Moe Library  with Storytime at 11am.
  • Churchill Library  at 10:30am

Reading the story at other times

  • Traralgon library on Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30am and 11:30am
  • Morwell Library on Tuesday at 11am

 

 Rainforest Coding

This is a new developing collection of coding adventures and activities designed to make scratch programming easier to understand and fun to learn.

The adventure takes place on the beautiful Echo Island, part of the Crystal Rainforest. Things suddenly turn very ugly for the scientists living on the island when it is attacked by hundreds of evil robots. Can you help Doctor Han find her way around the old temples , removing the robots in her way? Can you discover what is going on and who is behind the attacks? Will they be able to rescue the other scientist imprisoned by the robots?

SWOPBOTS:

Swopbots is a platform and puzzle game that teaches coding to children. aged 7+ .  Help Loop and Switch on their mission to collect the valuable violum crystals. Along the way they will need to use all their coding and problem solving skills to overcome a variety of logic puzzles. SwopBots is a fun and highly motivational way to get children thinking about code and solving puzzles. Learn how to play here.

You will need to download the Swopbots program for Windows and Mac.

Not available for tablets and iPad

Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century.

Scratch is a project of the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. It is provided free of charge.

Story Box Library features stories that are a little bit cheeky, a little bit charming and a whole lot of fun! It includes engaging online stories aimed at pre-schoolers and primary school aged children.

If you cannot make our Preschool Storytime sessions, Story Box Library is a great substitute.
