Community Bushfire Connection is an extension of the Living with Bushfire concept aimed at improved planning, both at an individual landholder and small community level and the exercising or testing of these plans, to drive further improvement.

The Community Bushfire Connection program will
• Focus on specific small townships around the Latrobe Valley
• Provide information and latest research directly to residents
• Assist in development or upgrading of individual and township plans
• Provide an opportunity , via a bushfire scenario, to test these plans in a simulated bushfire event
• Debrief the exercise and use it to drive further improvement and identify ways to work collaboratively across agencies, townships and individuals

For each aspect of the program a series of events will be promoted under the Community Bushfire Connection banner. Whilst there is a logic linking through each event of the program, the overall design is such that each event is independent, with people free to attend as they choose.

Fire Awareness (evening sessions)
• A community evening in specific townships featuring presentations by a range of fire researchers and locals sharing their experiences
