2011/2012 Rates Calculation

General and Farm Rates

For the 2011/2012 financial year, the rate in the dollar for general and differential rates to be declared (based on percentages or cents in the dollar of the Capital Improved Value) is set as:

Rates are calculated by the application of the rate in the dollar, which is decided on by the Council during the preparation of the budget each year, multiplied by the capital improved value (CIV) of each individual property.

This means if your property is residential and is valued at $200,000 CIV - then your general rates for 2011/2012 would be $200,000 x .00431108 = $862.20 

Garbage and Municipal Charges

There is also a Garbage Charges and a Municipal Charge where applicable.

 

Garbage Charges $235 per service

Apply to each tenement within the garbage service area whether the service is used or not. The standard garbage charge includes:

Garbage 120L Bin $146
Recycling $47
Green Waste $42

Garbage 240L Bin $235
Garbage 240L Bin Special $175
Landfill Levy $14.50 per service  
Municipal Charges $110 per assessment Represents a flat charge applied to every property as part of the overall rates raised by Council. It is not a fee for service, nor is it an additional charge, but forms part of Council's total rates to be raised. Some exemptions may apply to farm properties.
