Learn to Swim

The Latrobe City Leisure Facilities Learn to Swim program has been designed by qualified and experienced AUSTSWIM instructor’s and is currently conducted at all Latrobe Leisure heated pools.

Who do our lessons cater for?

Lessons are available for children starting at 6 months. Lessons for kinder and school age children are available at a range of times; including mornings, after school and weekends. Classes for adults are also available, assisting you with general water confidence or stroke correction. Participants will not only benefit from learning to swim; they will also learn water safety and survival skills.

Certificates are issued to participants twice per year (end of term's 2 and 4) which provide you with an update of your child’s progress. Progress books are available for purchase to allow parents and students to keep a consistent log of progress that you can both be proud of for many years to come.

What qualifications do the instructors have?

All of our learn to swim staff are qualified AUSTSWIM Instructors who also hold current CPR and Level 2 First Aid certificates as well as police and Working With Children Checks.

Class and Fee Structure

Our Learn to Swim terms are based around the Victorian government school terms. All students are scheduled to attend one half hour class per week. Class fees depend on the students age and type of class, all prices are listed in our current fees and charges brochure. All fees are term based and payable within the first three weeks of term.

Have more than three children? We offer a 20% discount on the 3rd and subsequent children in any one family enrolled in the same term.

Missed a lesson?

We understand that there may be circumstances that prevent you from attending a lesson. If a lesson is missed due to illness (and a medical certificate is presented) we will credit the cost of your missed lesson to your account. If the lesson is missed due other reasons, or you do not have a medical certificate, a free family swim pass will be issued to allow you to enjoy our facilities at another more convenient time. A limit of one family swim pass per term per child applies.
