Did you know?

As we get older we lose muscle strength and gain fat, however, this is a RESULT of INACTIVITY rather than AGE. Strength can be regained and maintained regardless of age. This is achieved by participating in an exercise and strength training program.

How does it work?

You attend either the gym under supervision of an instructor or participate in a group class with other Over 50’s in an environment that is friendly, enjoyable and safe. You will progress at a rate that is comfortable for you.

The program involves the use body weight, dumbbell weights, barbells, fit balls, steps and floor mats. Sessions also include flexibility training breathing and relaxation techniques.

Latrobe Leisure offers The Movers program (Morwell) and the Living Longer Living Stronger program (all centres) specifically for the needs of older adults. For details on these classes contact your local Latrobe Leisure Centre.
