Prekinder is a three (3) year old educational program, which operates at centres where there is sufficient demand for this service. This is of a two (2) hour duration. Additional sessions can be purchased with consultation.
Prekinder is defined as attendance in the year prior to the preschool program. This service consists of a two (2) hour program, one day per week. To be eligible for Latrobe City's prekinder program, children must be three (3) years of age before April 30, in the year of attendance.
Latrobe City Council operates a central enrolment scheme. The enrolment form allows applicants the opportunity to state the order of preference of particular prekinder groups. Fees for prekinder across the municipality are uniform. Families have the option of paying these fees a full-year in advance, term by term or by instalments. There is no concession on the prekinder program.

Prekinder Enrolments 2009
Enrolments for Prekinder in 2009 are now open for children who turn 3 years of age before 30 April 2009.
On time enrolments closed on Friday, 17 October 2008. Any enrolment received after this date will be treated as late enrolments.
Parents are required to provide proof of the child's age (eg Health Centre Book, copy of Birth Certificate etc). The name shown on the proof of age, must be the same as the name shown on the enrolment form.
Enrolment packages can be collected from Citizen Service Centres and Preschool centres. To enrol you can -
- Obtain an enrolment form from Preschool centres or Citizen Service Centres.
- Enrol in person at any Citizen Service Centre by bringing your child's proof of age.
- Enrol by mail. Post your form with a copy of the child's proof of age to:

Please note that enrolments will not be accepted at the Preschool Centres.
Do not send original documents in the mail. No responsibility will be taken for mail applications that go astray.
