Free Kindergarten for children known to child protection

What is Early Start Kindergarten?

Early Start Kindergarten is available to eligible three year old children who have been referred to Child FIRST from child protection. It allows these children to attend Kindergarten for two hours per week FREE.

Parents and careers are welcome to help or use the time to do other important things such as study, work, shopping or attend appointments.

 A kindergarten experience gives your child the opportunity to:

  • Develop responsibility and independence, gaining confidence and a feeling of self worth
  • Develop communication skills that assist with reading and writing
  • Learn social skills such as a listening and respecting other peoples ideas
  • Build self-awareness and respect for others
  • Learn to be creative
  • Do maths, social studies and science
  • Use technology
  • Discover the joy of learning
  • Make new friends
  • Be prepared for primary school

 

What about next year?

Four year old kindergarten programs will build on all these strengths your child will develop at a three year old program. All four year old children with an eligible concession card access four year old for free.
