Township Liaison Officers

Latrobe City has appointed staff as Township/District Liaison officers to each of the small township/district associations.

 

The purpose of the appointments is to:

  1. Improve the relationship between Latrobe City and its communities and to build constructive partnerships
  2. Provide timely and relevant information to assist communities in their endeavours
  3. Provide resource efficient support
  4. Work with communities to identify and address issues

 

The township/district associations are:

  • Boolarra Community Development Group
  • Glengarry Community Progress Association
  • Churchill & District Community Association
  • Toongabbie Recreation Reserve Committee
  • Traralgon South & District Township Association
  • Tyers & District Community Association
  • Yallourn North Action Group
  • Yinnar & District Community Association

 

Liaison Officer Role:

  • To attend township/community association meetings for which you are the nominated Liaison Officer, and to appoint (and brief) a substitute if you are unable to attend
  • To provide information on relevant Latrobe City programs, projects, planning and services
  • To provide timely and accurate feedback on Council/community matters
  • To record and communicate issues raised by the township/district association across the organisation to the relevant officers and to seek responses, written and verbal, to be placed on file
  • To coordinate responses to issues to ensure effective resource use ie for the organisation (responsible officer) to provide one letter of response covering a number of issues
  • To provide the township/community association and relevant Council officer with contact details
  • To identify staff who may be able to assist in responding to issues and suggest they be invited to the meeting
  • To maintain up-to-date contact details for the township/community association
  • To facilitate practical outcomes as sought by community and agreed by Council
