Community Engagement Policy and Strategy

Latrobe City's Community Engagement Policy and Strategy has been in operation for over two years and was revised in June 2005 following a review.

The Policy and Strategy was originally developed with guidance from a Reference Group consisting of Councillors, community members, management and staff.  Community input was also sought.

The Strategy provides a framework for communication and engagement between Council and residents and complements the Latrobe City Governance Protocols. It also outlines Council's commitment to community engagement and consultation, defines what Council means by engagement and describes ways to enhance current consultation processes.

The document provides a matrix to assist Council and residents in the most appropriate engagement methods or tools to be used for a variety of different situations or organisational and community requirements. Checklists to instigate feedback and evaluate engagement processes are also included.

The Policy and Strategy is available in alternative formats - large print, audio cassette, languages other than English, electronic format (below) and Braille upon request. English language copies of the Community Engagement Policy and Strategy are available from Latrobe City Service Centres in Moe, Morwell and Traralgon and libraries.
