The City Marketing and Development Unit manages a substantial portion of the annual Capital Works Program by way of investigation, survey, design and contract management.
Some projects are managed by joint process in conjunction with the Infrastructure Maintenance Unit, with detailed survey and designs provided by the City Marketing and Development Unit and contract management carried out by the Infrastructure Maintenance Unit.
Strong importance is placed on quality control and public safety during the course of the works.
All urban residential streets within Latrobe City are regularly assessed for the condition of the footpath, kerb and channel and pavement surface to determine the likely requirements for future levels of maintenance. When it is considered that maintenance costs will exceed reasonable levels, major rehabilitative works are undertaken instead. This presents an opportunity for owners and residents to have some input into the future appearance and operational effectiveness of their street. An information pack has been prepared to explain Council's procedure for this program and includes FAQ's and photos of past street rehabilitations. Download information pack (1.8Mb)
