We Care Program

We Care is a friendly visiting program which matches volunteers with isolated, frail aged people or people with a disability, living in Latrobe City. The program aims to extend the social networks of the older person and the volunteer by establishing friendships based on shared interests and experiences.

 

What Can a Volunteer Expect From We Care?

  • An information program prior to being matched with a participant
  • Ongoing support and encouragement from the Volunteer Program Team
  • Friendships with participants who share common interests or different life experiences which will benefit both people in understanding and enjoyment
  • Learning new skills and meeting people from diverse backgrounds

 

What Can The Participant Expect From We Care?

We Care is for frail aged and younger people with a disability. Participants may enjoy:

  • Having a volunteer call in regularly for a chat and a cuppa
  • Shared shopping expeditions with a volunteer to lend a hand
  • Having the volunteer accompany them to social outings or other outings which are mutually agreed on
