Latrobe City is calling for nominations for the '2008 Senior Citizen of the Year' award. This prestigious award is voted for by Latrobe City Councillors. It's purpose is to honour senior citizens who have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.To be eligible, the person must live in Latrobe City, be over 60 years of age and should have made, or be making a valuable contribution to the community in a voluntary capacity.The recipient of the award will be presented during Victorian Seniors Festival 2008 which runs from Sunday 5 October to Sunday 12 October. The presentation will take place at the 'Country Concert' to be held on Thursday 9 October at Kernot Hall in Morwell.This year the theme is 'Be Inspired' and there are many seniors in latrobe City who inspire us with their contributions to our community. If you know of someone, they may be your friend, a neighbour or a relative, please pick up a nomination form from one of Latrobe City's Moe, Morwell or Traralgon Service Centres, alternatively you can download a copy of the nomiation form. To be nominated for this award is an honour in itself
