Applications

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship handles enquiries and applications for Australian citizenship.

Citizenship ceremony

If your application is accepted, we invite you to a citizenship ceremony hosted by the Mayor. You can invite family and friends to celebrate with you.

We will give you:

  • Your Certificate of Australian Citizenship, which includes the citizenship pledge that you will make during the ceremony
  • An Australian native plant
  • An electoral enrolment form, allowing you to vote in local, state and federal elections.

The ceremony is the final step to becoming an Australian citizen.
