Nominations are now open for one community representative to participate in the 2018 Queens Baton Relay as a Community Batonbearer.
The Queen's Baton Relay is one of the Commonwealth Games’ most exciting events, one that generates global positive media coverage, community awareness, pride and support for the games. The relay directly reaches people who may not otherwise be involved in the Commonwealth Games, which allows regional areas the opportunity to be involved and support the games.
All nominees must:
be an Australian Citizen or lawfully entitled to reside in Australia during the Relay period (25 December 2017 – 4 April 2018)
be someone who will be at least 10 years old as at 25 December 2017
provide consent of the nomination
For nominees under 18 years old a parent/guardian must provide consent and agreement to terms and conditions
A Batonbearer is someone who meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Has achieved something extraordinary or inspired others to achieve something extraordinary
- Has made a significant contribution to sport, education, the arts, culture, and charity or within their community
- Has excelled, or aspires to excel athletically or personally
- Someone who contributes to a fun, friendly, vibrant and inclusive community
