Chess in the Libraries

Are you interested in chess? We now have chess sets available for use in our libraries. Chess boards have been placed in the libraries and chess pieces are available from the front counter. Simply ask staff for the chess pieces which will be borrowed on your library card. Once you have finished the games, please return the pieces to the front counter to be discharged from your card.

We have a range of useful chess resources in our libraries. Simply search the catalogue using 'Chess' as the subject term or browse our shelves at 794.1 for chess books.

Get a group of friends together and start a chess competition. Chess is a great game to play and teaches you strategy, lateral thinking and concentration and you don't need the latest PS2 box with all the gadgetry to have fun.

These chess sets have been kindly donated to the library by the Australian Chess Club.
