This event signified the official opening of the Loy Yang Power Community Sound shell, showcasing a diverse array of quality local entertainment from our finest performers. An afternoon of free entertainment provided by a variety of local performers that was augmented by children's entertainment from Dorothy The Dinosaur, Ronald McDonald and children's activities including jumping castle, face painting and other interactive activities.

Kia International Pro Tennis Tour 06Kia International Pro Tennis Tour, Traralgon 2006

The Kia Pro Tour consists of 28 professional tennis events conducted annually in Australia, one of which is held at the Traralgon Tennis Association.  The event was run between October 2nd and 8th with the finals being played on Sunday 9th.

Commonwealth Games Celebration Highlights

Latrobe City played a big part in this year's Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. From sports to cultural activities, Latrobe City residents had the excitement and shared the passion of the largest event ever to come to our towns. The activities that occurred in our region include the following:

Latrobe City Sporting Hall of FameLatrobe City Sporting Hall of Fame

As part the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games “Getting Involved Program” Latrobe City presented a celebration of local sporting history and heroes.  This took the form of a Sporting Hall of fame.  This allowed the public to view and celebrate the successes of other local community members.

The public were asked to nominate members of the community for the Latrobe City Sporting Hall of Fame, to celebrate our past and present local legends of sport whom have excelled in their chosen sport as an athlete or official. A ‘Sporting Hall of Fame’ committee was formed which included a cross section of councillors and the general public and they were responsible for the induction of the first members
