Latrobe Synthetic Sports Field Pavilion

Latrobe Synthetic Sports Field Pavilion is a new dual use facility for regional sports and tertiary education for Gippsland. The pavilion will be built at Federation University in Churchill, next to the newly-constructed synthetic sports field.

What the pavilion includes

The pavilion is a two-storey building including change facilities, first aid room, universal accessible amenities, umpire change rooms, office and store rooms, multi-purpose meeting space, commercial kitchen and canteen, and spectator viewing area.

How it is funded

The Latrobe Synthetic Sports Field Pavilion has received $1.7 million of joint funding. This funding comes from the Victorian Government ($650K), Latrobe City Council ($415K), Federation University ($415K), Australian Government ($200K) and Latrobe valley Hockey Association ($20K).

Who is involved

With Federation University owning the land where the pavilion is situated, and Latrobe City Council managing the project, the architecture and building contacts went up for tender.  The architecture contract was awarded to Centrum Architects.  The building contract was awarded to Rick Doultree Builders.

What's Happening

Significant works have taken place on the pavilion recently.

The roof of the pavilion is now constructed which has allowed the rough in of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, data, and security works.

Windows are currently being installed on the ground and first floors. Internally, plastering and painting is well underway making it easier to identify the final layout of the building.

Works on the commercial kitchen have begun with appliances and further fit-out works to commence shortly.

Construction works are anticipated to be completed in October.
