Glengarry East Development Plan

The draft Glengarry East Development Plan (GEDP) was lodged with Latrobe City Council for assessment in September 2017.

The Development Plan has been prepared for land at 100 (part) and 101 Cairnbrook Road, Glengarry and covers an area of approximately 21.05 hectares. The northern parcel abuts Gippsland Plains Rail Trail to the west and the southern parcel abuts existing residential properties. The surrounding land to the north, south and east is used for farming.

The land is within the General Residential Zone, Schedule 1 and is affected by the Development Plan Overlay (DPO) – Schedule 5. The DPO is a planning tool that ensures that future development of the land occurs in an integrated way.

Current Status

At the 1 October 2018 Ordinary Council Meeting, Council noted the submissions that have been received to date in relation to the Glengarry East Development Plan and resolved to formally consider the draft Glengarry East Development Plan and the response to submissions at the 5 November 2018 Ordinary Council Meeting.

At the 5 November 2018 Ordinary Council Meeting, Council endorsed the Glengarry East Development Plan, subject to changes. The changes that are to be made to the Glengarry East Development Plan are;

  • the unencumbered public open space land area will increase from 2% to at least 5%; and
  • the average lot size will increase from 889m² to no less than 900m².

Next steps

The revised version of the Glengarry East Development Plan, incorporating the changes as resolved by Council, will be endorsed by officers and the final version of the Glengarry East Development Plan will then be uploaded to Latrobe City Council’s website.

Once the Glengarry East Development Plan is endorsed, a planning permit application for the land to be subdivided can be lodged with Latrobe City Council for assessment and will need to be generally in accordance with the endorsed Glengarry East Development Plan in order to be approved.
