Glengarry East Development Plan

The draft Glengarry East Development Plan (GEDP) was lodged with Latrobe City Council for assessment in September 2017.

The Development Plan has been prepared for land at 100 (part) and 101 Cairnbrook Road, Glengarry and covers an area of approximately 21.05 hectares. The northern parcel abuts Gippsland Plains Rail Trail to the west and the southern parcel abuts existing residential properties. The surrounding land to the north, south and east is used for farming.

The land is within the General Residential Zone, Schedule 1 and is affected by the Development Plan Overlay (DPO) – Schedule 5. The DPO is a planning tool that ensures that future development of the land occurs in an integrated way.

The draft GEDP proposes approximately 138 new housing lots in six stages.

Community engagement

The draft plan was released to the community for feedback in February 2018, which resulted in objections being lodged. A number of matters were raised, particularly the number of lots proposed and the two access points from Main Street.

From the feedback received, the applicant advised that they would review the draft Glengarry East Development Plan. The applicant will investigate reducing lot density and review the road access to the proposed development.

It is anticipated that the revised draft Glengarry East Development Plan will be released to the community for consultation in July 2018.

During this consultation period the community will be able to make submissions, view the information at all Latrobe City Council service centres, Council website, and Glengarry Post Office.

Latrobe City Council will hold a further information session in Glengarry with details to be confirmed, and will be available for one on one meetings as required.
