The Latrobe Valley offers a wealth of participatory cultural activity, taking place throughout the year. Its array of festivals, art galleries and exhibition facilities are among the best in regional Australia.

Latrobe Regional Gallery

The Latrobe Regional Gallery holds a substantial collection of contemporary Australian art and historical Gippsland works. The collection includes paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics and glass with exhibitions changing every five weeks. Featured artists include Jessie Traill, Noel Counihan, Jan Senbergs, Mandy Martin, Rosalie Gascoigne, Colin Suggett and many more. More information about Latrobe Regional Gallery

Latrobe Performing Arts

Throughout the year, the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon plays host to many great performance. These include anything from local acts to top class national performers. Latrobe Performing Arts and Convention Centre Feasibility Study

The Latrobe Performing Arts and Convention Centre Feasibility Study report has been released by Council to the public for comment. The public will have the opportunity to consider the report and comment regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the options provided. The report will be available for comment until 24 February 2010 and a series of meetings will be convened to provide members of the public an opportunity to discuss the report. Festival Celebrations

The annual Yallourn Energy Moe Jazz Festival, held over the March Labor Day weekend, presents a diverse range of musical performances in a range of top venues. Activities include Traditional jazz, a jazz parade, the Big Blow in the Moe CBD, a jazz mass and a Race meeting on the Monday at the Moe Racecourse.

Other entertaining Latrobe Valley festivals include the month-long Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod, the Church Street Fiesta, Jazz on Track at Walhalla, dance festivals at Morwell and Moe, Comedy Festival Traralgon (April), Harvest of Gippsland at Lardner Park, Warragul (April), and the Boolarra Folk Festival. Morwell's Centenary Rose Garden is famous for its 250 rose types, on display in 80 beds, on 1.61 hectares of meticulously sculpted gardens. The Morwell Celebration of Roses (in April), and the Glengarry Festival of Roses, attract thousands of rose fanciers every year.

Culture and Heritage

The Latrobe Valley also has a strong indigenous and multicultural heritage. It is the traditional home of the Braiakaulung people and its numerous multicultural communities are supported by the Gippsland Migrant Resource Centre.
