Please note: change of location to Kernot Hall, Morwell

To assist our fellow Gippslanders, Latrobe City opened an Emergency Relief Centre on Friday evening for those people who decided to leave East Gippsland.

As of this morning, Sunday 5 January the Emergency Relief Centre has been RELOCATED from the Morwell Recreation Reserve and is now operational from Kernot Hall, Princes Drive and Monash Way, Morwell.

The relocation has occurred due to relief centres in Bairnsdale and Sale reaching capacity.

Emergency Relief Centres are a place of last resort – the best possible place for people who have left East Gippsland is with family or friends, or their own homes if they are out of the area under threat. Evacuees will be much more comfortable there.

The centre is not open to residents of Latrobe City due to there being no active emergency situation in the municipality.

We thank Latrobe City residents for their generosity and need to help, but remind people that no donations of any sort, monetary, food or hard goods can be accepted and no volunteers are being sought to assist with Councils response.

The Vic Emergency website, Vic Emergency app and local radio should be the community’s source of information for all bushfire warnings.
