The question

As Council, business and community, what should we do to reduce illegal dumping within our community?

The solutions

The ‘Can I?’ Campaign
Educate the community about the items that can be taken to Latrobe City transfer stations free of charge.

Waste in Your Space
A long-term school program to tackle illegal dumping by shaping norms and behaviours among students and influencing the attitudes of the next generation.

The Drop
A mobile transfer to increase the convenience of legal waste disposal and persuade would-be dumpers to dispose of their waste legally.

Kerbside and Amnesty Program
Increase to four vouchers for all households (renters included) in the municipality and introduce an amnesty for items at the transfer station free of charge for certain items at pre-arranged dates.

Next steps?

Council will now investigate the solutions for feasibility, cost and impact.
