Survey to shape economic development in Latrobe City

Posted on 12 November 2018

Latrobe City Council is looking to the business community to help shape the future of economic development in the municipality by completing a short evaluation survey. This research, undertaken every two years, helps to inform Council on different aspects of the local economy and gain knowledge to plan for appropriate initiatives and training programs.

Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Graeme Middlemiss, said that understanding the local business community was important to help Council provide relevant services to support those businesses.

“This survey will not take much time out of your busy day but your responses will provide us with enough information to plan out a range of activities and programs aimed specifically to bolstering the capacity and the confidence of local businesses.

“If you don’t tell us how you are travelling, we cannot make any changes to our program of events or develop any new initiatives. We know that small business is the foundation of our economy and we want to do everything we can to support those business owners out there who work hard every day. Your responses are invaluable,” Cr Middlemiss said.

“For those who do complete the survey you will receive a free mentoring session run by Small Business Mentoring Service Victoria. During the session you can look at a variety of issues including management, finance, marketing, human resources, sales, governance or planning. Access to this sort of service is often useful in terms of understanding changes in the market, making sure you’re across new perspectives and business practices and just being able to seek advice.

“If you are a business owner or operator here in Latrobe City, I would urge you to take part in the business evaluation. A short time out of your day goes a long way towards improvements in the services we can offer you in future,” Cr Middlemiss concluded.

Hard copies of the evaluation have been sent out. If you did not receive your copy, you can pick one up at any of our service centres in Churchill, Moe, Morwell and Traralgon. You can also take it online at
