Funding allows for audience research for Latrobe Creative Precinct

In a positive move for the future Latrobe Creative Precinct, Creative Victoria has announced funding of $50,000 to build capacity for strategic audience development of the new facility.

Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Graeme Middlemiss, said the funding would allow Council to undertake extensive research.

“We would be able to fully investigate the composition, demographics and preferences of our future audiences for performances, events and celebrations at the new Creative Precinct.

“Council is committed to seeing a full range of activity on the site and this work will inform and guide us as we look to program the new arts centre, our Little Theatre and the two outdoor event spaces in the years to come,” Cr Middlemiss said.

“We are grateful to the Victorian government, through this Creative Victoria funding, in facilitating this key preparatory step in our creative planning. We will apply the funding for audience research and analysis, the creation of an Audience Development Plan, a Programming Prioritisation Framework and a Precinct Activation Plan.

“We hope the research findings will be complete and available by mid-2019, ahead of preparations for the opening of the new precinct in late-2020,” Cr Middlemiss concluded.
