EFTPOS facilities introduced at pound

Posted on 6 December 2017

Latrobe City Council is now accepting EFTPOS payments at its pound in Driffield Road, Morwell so that customers can pay their release fees at the facility rather than at a service centre.

Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Darrell White, said the move was designed to streamline the process of releasing eligible animals.

“We know it can be stressful for both the animals and the owners when a pet is impounded. Previously, the owner had to present at a service centre or library to pay the release fees and then return to the pound to pick up their animal.

“The new system reduces the time it takes to be reunited with your pet, if it is eligible for release,” Cr White said.

“At this stage, customers can pay by EFTPOS, but not cash. Cash payments can be handled at service centres or libraries. Pound operating hours are from 8.30am to 9.30am and 4pm to 5pm weekdays, or by appointment.

“With the introduction of this new service, it’s a timely reminder to pet owners to ensure their animals are microchipped and registered. Pets can only be released when both these requirements have been fulfilled.

“We listened to our customers and heard that they wanted to be able to resolve what can be a difficult experience in a more efficient way,” Cr White concluded.

The new service began operating on Friday 1 December.
