Temporary closure for Lake Narracan on Wednesday

Posted on 8 January 2013

Type: Announcement

Lake Narracan will be closed this Wednesday 9 January from 7.30 am to 4pm to enable SP Ausnet to replace the powerlines across the lake that were damaged by a hang-glider on Thursday.

Latrobe City Council’s general manager recreation, culture and community infrastructure, Grantley Switzer, said that the closure was unplanned but necessary.

“For the safety of the public the lake must be closed for the period when the works are being undertaken. We realise that the timing is unfortunate as the lake is popular during the hot weather but the closure is essential.

“The safety of the people staying at the caravan park will not be compromised but we would ask that members of the public stay away from the lake during the day so that the works can be carried out as efficiently as possible,” Mr Switzer said.

The lake will reopen to the public on Thursday 10 January 2013.
